Dane Street, a leading Independent Review Organization (IRO) and national provider of Utilization Review (UR) services, is currently expanding our physician panel. We are seeking Board-Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeons with an active New York medical license to perform independent medical reviews on a flexible, remote (telework) basis.

This is a non-clinical, contract opportunity (1099) ideal for physicians interested in supplemental income and non-traditional work, while continuing their active clinical practice.

Position Details

  • Specialty Needed: Orthopedic Spine Surgery
  • License Required: Active, unrestricted New York medical license
  • Employment Type: Independent contractor (1099)
  • Location: Telework / Remote
  • Compensation: Per-case payment (average case takes 15–20 minutes)
  • Workload: You set your own schedule and case volume
  • Start Date: Training and onboarding can be completed in under one week

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical necessity determinations on treatment requests
  • Review appealed cases and render objective, evidence-based opinions
  • No direct patient care or treatment involved – this is an advisory-only role
  • Complete all reviews using Dane Street’s secure and user-friendly online portal

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted New York Medical License
  • Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery (subspecialty in Spine preferred)
  • Active clinical practice
  • Strong written communication and analytical skills
