About the Role:
Snapscale is seeking a skilled Medical Virtual Assistant with Ophthalmology experience to support a US-based Ophthalmology clinic in a remote setup. In this role, you will be responsible for insurance verification, prior authorization processing, patient scheduling, appointment coordination, inbound call handling, and EMR management to ensure a seamless patient experience. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting U.S. Ophthalmology practices and is knowledgeable in patient coordination, insurance workflows, and healthcare administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify vision and medical insurance eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, and coverage limitations
- Process insurance verification and initiate prior authorization requests as required
- Contact insurance carriers to resolve eligibility discrepancies and document verification details in the practice management system
- Answer inbound calls and assist patients with scheduling, rescheduling, appointment confirmations, reminders, and general inquiries
- Manage patient records and maintain accurate documentation using EMR/EHR systems
- Coordinate with clinic staff regarding insurance issues, same-day verification requests, and scheduling exceptions
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain accurate patient and insurance documentation at all times

- Must have hands-on experience with insurance verification and prior authorization processing
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems, patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and inbound call handling

- Experience communicating directly with insurance providers to resolve eligibility and authorization issues
- Medical billing and coding experience is an advantage
