Role Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP, licensed in New Jersey, to serve in a supervisory and initiating provider role for our Medicare population. This is a part time, 1099 contractor position.
This role does not focus on ongoing medication management. Instead, the PMHNP will conduct initial assessments, establish medical necessity, initiate services, and provide general clinical oversight and supervision of peer support services delivered by our recovery team. The PMHNP will ensure services meet Medicare and New Jersey regulatory requirements and align with best practices in behavioral health and substance use recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial psychiatric and behavioral health evaluations for Medicare members in New Jersey
Establish diagnoses and medical necessity for peer support services
Initiate and authorize treatment plans in accordance with Medicare and NJ regulations
Provide clinical supervision and oversight of peer support specialists and recovery coaches
Review documentation to ensure compliance with Medicare and state standards
Be available for consultation regarding clinical risk, escalation, or changes in member presentation
Participate in periodic case reviews and interdisciplinary meetings
Qualifications
Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Active, unrestricted RN and APRN license in New Jersey
New Jersey certification as a PMHNP
Medicare participating provider, required
Experience working with substance use disorders and co occurring mental health conditions
Familiarity with Medicare documentation and supervision requirements
Experience supervising peer support or allied behavioral health staff preferred
Strong clinical judgment and collaborative approach
