Essential Functions: 

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering quality medical care and clinical services in a manner that adheres to local, federal, and state regulatory requirements. The Nurse Practitioner specifically has final responsibility for the following: 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatment or medications to patients to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. 
  • Evaluate, assess, and diagnose patients to determine appropriate eligibility.
  • Examine, conduct, or order laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders and determine or monitor medication levels as needed. 
  • Collaborate and consult with other physicians, psychologists, clinicians, psychiatric nurses, behavioral healthcare managers or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress. 
  • Act as a consultant for our Collaborative Care Model in Behavioral Health. 
  • Ensure that patient medical information and records are obtained and maintained, including record request are submitted as appropriate and needed from other medical providers and social or medical history is obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals. 
  • Ensure timely and satisfactory documentation of all patient treatment efforts and progress which adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the practice and all local, state, and federal regulation agencies, and the respective licensing board. 
  • Advise and inform parents, guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' Conditions and treatment.
  • Advise and inform patients, guardians, relatives, and significant others of indications for, side effects of contraindications, and any other important information related to medication prescribed for a patient. 
  • Work with the Medical Director to plan for emergency and back up coverage services after hours for patients with medication related crisis. 
  • Coordinate and act as a liaison with outside agencies as needed regarding the medical care of the clients and the professional growth of the practice. 
  • Attend all required treatment team or administrative meetings as needed to provide input, recommendations, and consultation. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision And Coordination Of Services:

The Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the Medical Director and collaborates regularly with other professionals on interdisciplinary teams regarding patient care. The Nurse Practitioner may also act as a practice liaison in working in collaboration with community providers and regulatory agencies. 

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be certified in the specialty of PMH (Psychiatric Mental Health)
  • A minimum of two (2) years of pediatric behavioral health experience, independently able to write prescriptions and comfortable with the use of psychotropics
  • Must have experience with electronic medical systems
  • Demonstrates a core capability and specific clinical competence
  • Possess the ability to provide education, support, and best practices in integrated psychiatric care
  • Extensive experience working with population with serious mental illness, and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, families, agency clinicians and employees, and other health care professionals
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of cultural diversity and special needs populations
  • Must be professionally driven and team oriented

Travel Requirement: Very limited. Role would be providing Telehealth Services.
