Position Summary

This position supports Project Managers in project execution in the Client Services department and ensures consistently superior client service standards in all client interactions. The Nurse Reviewer – Team Lead is responsible for providing professional‑level claims and administrative support within our client‑facing project management team while also offering day‑to‑day operational and clinical workflow leadership to a group of Nurse Reviewers.

As a key member of the project team, this role supports consistency, quality, and adherence to established medical review procedures. The Team Lead plays an active role in clinical onboarding, training reinforcement, real‑time procedural guidance, and quality oversight, ensuring Nurse Reviewers are aligned with approved eligibility criteria, documentation standards, and escalation pathways.

Job Responsibilities

Core Nurse Reviewer Responsibilities

All responsibilities outlined in the Nurse Reviewer job description continue to apply, including but not limited to:

  • Claims Assessment Execution – Meet project requirements by following written procedures to deliver all project deliverables on time and at the highest quality standards.
  • Data Entry and Verifications – Use proprietary software tools to meet requirements relating to case application and claims submission deliverables within expectations for accuracy, productivity, and case‑specific standards.
  • Internal Collaboration – Work closely with team leadership to meet project objectives and proactively communicate obstacles affecting work completion.
  • Client Communication – Respond to client communications timely and accurately; understand client needs and feedback; collaborate and consult with clients and/or support Project Managers in doing so; follow up and communicate client needs internally while ensuring the obtention of information from claimants.
  • Documentation & Reporting – Draft project client‑facing communications based on case requirements and review of legal and/or medical documentation and records. Participate in the development or updating of policies, procedures, website text, and business rules.
  • Database Execution – Verify data and processing requirements, ensuring corrections are handled accurately and in a timely manner.

Additional Team Lead Responsibilities

Operational & Clinical Team Leadership

  • Serve as a first level point of contact for Nurse Reviewers regarding workflow questions, task prioritization, and application of approved procedures and eligibility criteria.
  • Lead and support clinical onboarding and training of Nurse Reviewers using approved training materials, SOPs, orientation checklists, and case specific guidance.
  • Provide real time clinical guidance to Nurse Reviewers on documentation standards, procedural expectations, and application of written eligibility criteria based on day-to-day review activity.
  • Act as an operational and clinical workflow liaison between Nurse Reviewers and Project Management for day-to-day questions and clinical issue triage.

Quality Oversight, Training Validation & Escalation

  • Monitor work for consistency with established procedures, quality expectations, and documented precedents.
  • Support resolution of routine and moderately complex claims questions that fall within established guidance.
  • Identify claims or scenarios that fall outside established guidance, involve ambiguity, or present increased risk, and collaborate with the Project Manager to determine appropriate next steps.
  • Participate in claim decision discussions with the Project Manager where interpretation beyond written guidance may be required, ensuring decisions are documented and aligned with program requirements.
  • Support validation of Nurse Reviewer readiness following clinical onboarding and training, including review of initial work samples and confirmation that reviewers are prepared to perform independent review in alignment with approved guidance and escalation pathways.
  • Escalate cases requiring additional clinical opinion or consistency review through defined pathways when further clinical interpretation or validation is needed.
  • The scope and focus of Team Lead responsibilities may vary based on program design; however, the role consistently provides operational leadership, clinical guidance reinforcement, and decision support within established procedures and escalation pathways. Clinical governance support is available to provide secondary clinical opinion and consistency across cases as needed.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ontario or Quebec is required.
  • 1–2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with experience in medical record review, claims processing, eligibility assessment, or administrative review environments considered an asset.
